Coronavirus: BU guidance for churches as employers

Having our church doors closed does not mean closed hearts. Church is all about relationship: with God, with one another and with the wider community as we demonstrate that our relationship to God and seek to draw others into it. Those relationships can still be nurtured, but in other ways.

We have a responsibility of care for one another, all who share in the life of our churches and the wider community. Given the nature of church communities we are normally inevitably in contact, directly or otherwise, with those who are vulnerable. However, in responding to the needs of others we need to ensure that we follow the best advice for each situation. Worship, pastoral care and mission can all be done differently as we seek to live as God's people at this time.

Social distancing means that the natural physical contact we express in fellowship and in care for others must generally be avoided. However, care and support can be expressed in other ways including phone calls.

The NBA is not in a position to offer guidance as we have neither the specialist knowledge, capability or experience. However, we would remind you of help and guidance that can on hte links above.

Clearly we should pray. Pray for those who mourn and have lost loved ones to Covid - 19, for those who have the illness, for those caring and supporting those who are ill, for those exploring the possibilities of vaccines and for the effectiveness of national strategies and personal practices in overcoming the pandemic.

Please feel free to contact John Claydon (johnclaydon@thenba.org.uk ), Paul Revill (paulrevill@thenba.org.uk) or Elaine Webster (elainewebster@thenba.org.uk )for help and support.
