Northern Baptist Association Texas Partnership

As a result of an introduction from Chuck McComb, a long time friend of the NBA and president of American Interim Pastors Ministries, we were approached by Dr Roger Yancey, director of missions at the Tryon Evergreen Baptist Association (TEBA) based in Conroe, about one hour north of Houston, Texas. We talked about the possibility of a partnership between our two Associations where mission teams from TEBA would come and serve our NBA churches; mission teams from the NBA would serve TEBA churches; and together we would serve in another country, maybe in eastern Europe. We felt led to pursue this and signed a partnership agreement in 2009.

There have been awareness trips for ministers and support staff from the NAB to TEBA during 2009 and 2010 and reciprocal awareness trips from TEBA ministers to the NBA. During 2010 we were pleased to welcome 3 mission teams to the NBA; a group of 6 people from First Baptist Church, Tomball to Thornaby BC; a group of 19, mainly from Spring BC, working with our Hartlepool churches at the Tall Ships race; and a team of 5 from Oak Ridge BC working with our Westoe Road BC, South Shields.

In 2011 we have received a visit from directors of mission from other Texan Associations and are expecting a number of mission teams in August to work with our NBA churches. We are also taking a team to FBC Grangerland in June 2011 to provide a soccer skills course for the Hispanic teenagers and children, hoping that this will be the first of many mission teams to go to TEBA in the next few years.
